Last time I left it very informal, as I really wasn't sure if people would turn up, and I didn't want to formalise anything so as not to disappoint. As it turned out many people where there for the duration of the entire event. Which has given me the confidence to run something a bit more formal this year and promote it better, so our community can get more out of the core development team. So please do leave comments on this, for your preferences and ideas.
Please do use the poll on the top right side panel if you are able to go. Also if you want me to run a poll for any other questions, on possible ideas for the event, then let me know.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you change continent every year ? One year in EMEA, one in Asian and one year in America ?
Nicolas Héron (nheron)
Drools Boot camp is done on a budget, EU hotels are just too expensive. Last year we had a fantastic deal at the Best Western for $69 per night, including breakfast. Plus USA gives us a larger catchment area and people in the EU are more use to travelling to the USA for events. ASIA is out because the flights would cost too much for all of the team, as we only have one member in APAC.
ReplyDeleteJust about anywhere in the US works for me, as long as Southwest airlines flys there. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess the question that would be nice for pulling is NE/NW/SE/SW/central USA, as that would probably help target which cit(ies) to look at, i.e. Boston or NY for NE, Atlanta for SE, etc.
ReplyDeleteDallas or Atlanta would probably provide the most central location and easiest to fly in/out as well as not being overly expensive for hotels, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you tie it with ORF (I was there) like you did last year? Or even BRF if it suits the Drools team?
ReplyDeleteI am from Australia and will be willing to travel to the US for events but if all the good events were spread out, I'll miss out on all but one.
Hosting them with noncompeting but relevant events that you will be attending anyway, will benefit people who travel long and far to participate for related events.
I think this event might be tied back to back with JavaOne, to reduce JBoss travel. The ORF conference is just after my honey moon, so it will be hard for me to do back to back with ORF. Also Drools 5.0 is almost done, and we would like a team meetin sooner, rather than later, after 5.0.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to attend. I'm based in San Jose, so that would be easiest for me.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do this one Proctor...so long as there are no...pictures. We could also potentially help arrange this.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, count me in.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI'm interested by the Drools Boot Camp 2009. At the office it's time to schedule training for 2009. So when do you think you'll have a formal date and location and a content description for the training.
Thank you
Daniel Pilon
What's the target date for publishing the Drools Boot Camp 09 dates (date for the date)? I'd like to attend, if it's in the Silicon Valley area. Sooner is always better!
ReplyDeletethanks,
Jason
I'm still waiting for budget approval, as soon as I know more i'll blog it.
